Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver"
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver". She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment.
Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it".
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

welcome winter
as many would know, yesterday was the winter solstice. (beware - snow queen is coming! - jk!)
i didnt have much celebration as i was tired and lazy after the hectic week. i only ate instant noodle at night and some mandrin oranges! yummy!
but today, after bible study, i came back - and guess what - i was greeted with tang yuan!! and garlic breads!!! yay! free lunch!! praise God! if not for these people that blessed me with tang yaun and garlic breads, i wont have anything for lunch - and i would have went to bed to hibernate til dinner!
ok, this is not the exact picture - but you get my point! the tang yan given to me was done in the foochow way! meaning, no soup - tangyuan coated with peanuts and sugar! yummy!! thank you Johnny!
garlic bread- yummy - one of my favourite. it's easy to make and cheap! and best of all, it's filling!! well, i was supposed to make it for breakfast but i overslept - and then couldnt make it. i count it a blessing to have it for lunch! praise God!

reanimation week
as some might know, i am having reanimation cycle this week. it is a really exciting - breathtaking week that I had!
not only that you need to know about emergency medicine, you practically need to know all about medicine to be working in emergency department. life and death depends on your decisions that you have to make in seconds! and the best care the patient can get is that first few seconds that you are there...so, emergency care if an important field.
the week has finally ended. i was just thinking, maybe i would like to go into emergency medicine. all these while, my interest was towards interncal medicine but after this week, i feel that the first few moments that you get to the victim/patient is one of the most critical moments that determines how the patient will live in days to come. the decisions and manipulations plays a great role!
one of the simplest thing i can share with you all - when you feel your heart is racing (tachycardia) - not because you are looking at the love of your life! ahaha.. but for some unknown reason, well, you can try this manuevers.
firstly - try to massage your carotid artery (Hering reflex) - where can u find that? it's on your neck, below your ear. massage it for 15-20 seconds on each side. not both at once! you dont want to fait due to less blood going into your brain! massage on each side. it will help your heart rate to decrease due to mechanism that stimulates the vagal tone - leading to decrease heart rate.
if that doest work, try pressing your eye balls (with ur eyes close!) for 10-15 seconds and release it, and repeat it. not too hard, K! dont want to burst it! this is another reflex that could help decrease heart rates! this is known as Ascher reflex.
next, you can try closing your mouth and holding your nose (closin the nosetrils) and try to expire. you can hear a 'pop' in your ears. (Valsalva maneuver) do that a few times and try feeling your heart rate. this reflex works if you feel deaf in the airplane too! it opens the eustachian tube and help the balance the pressure in your ear!
ok - if all these does not work, and your heart is stil racing fast - go to the emergency room as soon as possible. but if the doctor stil cannot help, maybe you've fallen inlove with her! and that makes your heart race!

the light of christmas
What is God’s purpose to send Jesus into the world?
Gen 1:1-4 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
The first thing God said – let there be light.
Before light came, there was chaos and confusion. There was no order on planet earth. The first thing God did was send light. God sent order into the world through light. without light we cant see, without light, there was nothing much we can do!
1 John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
The bible says that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all! So, initially, God says – let there be light and later we know that God is light. So, God sent himself into the world to set things in order! Light was God according 1 John 1:4-5.
Christ is the light of men. Finally in John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
He who follows Christ shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life. Your life would change, transformed when you have the light of God that comes into you!
Why is light so important?
Light is greater than darkness
No matter how dark is room, when you light a candle, the whole place will be brighten up. When ever light is present, darkness is dispelled.
Light gives vision
light allow us to see the things in our life. If you do not have God in your life, you won’t have the spiritual light of God, and you wont be able to see the dreams, purpose and vision that God gives you. Without the light of God we will be lost, we would not have the sense of direction in life.
Spiritual light is not the same as physical light. Physical light allows us to see with our eyes but spiritual light of God helps us see with spiritual eyes to see the things that God wants us to do.
Light gives life.
The sun is the source of life – plant grows with the light from sun. sun gives life to plant and gives life to us. If there is no daylight, we will feel sleepy all the time..don;t you think so?
Light comes from things that gives out heat.
When things give out, they will emit light. what are the things that will give out heat in our life? It is the passion and our love for God. The passion of God will create the life of Christ in our life. If we love God will all our heart, people will see, because that light emit out through your life and the life of Christ.
Light travels quickly (300 000km/s)
when you fireworks, do you see the fireworks first or you hear the sound first? Fireworks first! When you see lightning or hear thunder first? Lightning!
Light travels even thru empty space
Light travels through even vacuum. That means if your heart is empty today, even the light of God is able to pierce through it!
That is the significant of the light of God!
Light is made up of 7 colours!
That is where you get the rainbow colours! The spiritual light of God is made up of God’s 7 characteristic :
a) Jehovah Jireh – God our provider
b) Jehovah Rophe – God our Healer
c) Jehovah Nissi – God our banner, God our victory!
d) Jehovah Rohi – God is my shepherd
e) Jehovah Shammah – God is always with us
f) Jehovah Tshikenu – God our righteouness
g) Jehovah Mekadesh – God is my sanctifier
John 12:46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness

girls out there, do you stil remember Backstreet Boys? It has been a decade!!!
i remember when i was in primary 5, there was this band that we would go crazy over...watch the video clips on ntv7,...aha....and lots more of course. so funny when i recall the crazy things my friends and i will do - sing their songs, buy their cassettes, magazines and watch their videos over and over again. scruztinize every details of the videos! aha
now, western singers/bands arent really the hit among my family. most of them are jsut crazy over LYZ, and so on...nicholas teo? ahaha....david tao!!! lee hom!!! aha.....not forgetting - TVXQ! if want to say which is the best - it's definately TVXQ!!!! my love - yunho!

one of the saddest thing that i have to face is that i am invisible in the eyes of poeple. everyone wants to be accepted and be noticed. at least by the people around them. if even the closest people doest acknowledge your presence,....i dont know what that means...

finally - finals
finally, the finals are starting....finals? haha..yea...final exams!

a b-day bash
sorry for the 'hiatus' for a few days...i this will last longer than expected...i've got an exam coming up - opthalmology this wed/thursday.
everything has been great...last sunday we had a spectacular bday bash for our pastor's bday!!
it was organized by cell groups...and my cell was partly involved in performance and cooking. the handsome guys danced a chinese dance - kungfu style. and we made egg tarts!
the theme was 'All the Nations', where were wore traditional costumes. there was malay costumes, african, indians and chinese. it was fun! we can see indian wearing african traditional outfits, chinese in sari or punjabi suit, african in sari and cheongsam...it was great. you can hardly find this unity - only in the body of Christ!!
i'll put up pictures...but for now, chew on these...kekekeke...

an extraordinary night
it's saturday night, 15th dec.
how was time has passed. in 2 weeks time, it's goin to be end of dec, end of 2007.
something special happened today, yes, you saw the pictures - i was greeted by sushi. it's not a surprise, just something i ordered from a friend who was making and selling them here. i shared it with my roomate.
dont be deceived by the pictures, i didnt have a camera, so i went google for pictures and these were the closest i could find....
anyway, it was yummy!
church was superb today. indeed, it was better than before and i heard a testimony today. a girl was deciding to go back (quit medicine) because of financial difficulty. she believed in God that if it was God's will for her to be here, financial has to come in. she was scheduled to leave by this monday but by last monday, she received news from home that she got scholarships....yes, not one, but 2 scholarships! one that can support for tuition fee and hostel fee for 5 years and another that can support her living expenditure for the next 5 years! Hallelujah!!
Indeed, God can make a way when there is no way. and when it is God's plan for her to come here, He'll make sure everything will be done! God always, ALWAYS, make a way when there is no way in the human eyes! Never ever give up because God will always show up!
I dont know what to say now, when I heard this testimony, all i can say is Praise to God!!! All glory to Him!!!
And there was tears of joy!!! because God is so evident!! When we are lost, when there is no one to turn to, God is always there....and the lesson is, we shouldnt turn to everything and when everything fail, then turn to God. The first thing to do is always to turn to God and seek for His refuge. God shouldnt be out last resort but our first aid!! haha....which is very true...God should be the first person we turn too!
I cannot imgaine having to give up my studies and go back home to help with the financial. I couldnt stand the tears when i heard her testimony. Her bravery, her courage, to give up her studies because she needs and wants her younger siblings to study more....she is willing to give up the opportunity to study...and this really touched my heart. I have not known a person who had to make this decision nor have i ever made this kind of decision. my heart just break.....but you know when you are faithful, God is even more faithful!!
It is so true when God says - And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil 4:19.
All Glory to God!
and there was so much more testimonies - people getting healed, protection of God, God's favour, God's miracle and this proves one thing ---we are serving a living God!

One Night With the King
last night in cell group, we had Movie-Night. We watched One Night with the King.
It is the story about Queen Esther. According to the book of Esther in the bible. I must say, it's one of the best bible story i've ever watched. I've not seen anything like this before.
It tells the story of obedience. And how great God.
If God calls you to a position, He'll equip you all the way.

5 language of love
Everyone has a love tank.
It is where love is filled and then poured out. You have to put love inside so that it can be expressed out. People that do not have anything inside, cannot express it.
Matt 12:34 – for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
It is only out of the abundance of love that it will spill out! And you begin to put words of love into your feeling, emotion and into your words!
If you have a little love, you cannot speak love to others!
5 love languages –
1. Word of Affirmation
Words are so important that Solomon in his wisdom wrote -
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,And those who love it will eat its fruit.Prov 18:21 NKJV
Words have tremendous power!
Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,But a good word makes it glad.Prov 12:25 KJV
It is also called word sensitive people it is very important what people say to them.
Whether you say or not, it has a bearing in their life. He/she needs lots of encouragement in their life.It is proven a sincere praises goes a long way.
Do you know, it takes 16 words of encouragements to cover the 1 discouraging word that you’ve said to someone?
2. Quality time
To some people, quality time is very important. It is talking to each other, and just to enjoy one another’s presence.
It’s not going to the movies for 2 hours and then go back home.
It is to spend real time together.
The activity you do is not important; it is only a vehicle that creates the togetherness.
You’ve got to find quality time to spend together!!
3. Receiving gifts
Gifts are important because they are visual symbol of love. It is an expression of our heart’s token for your loved ones.
That is why, in weddings, there are rings.
It has sentimental values.
Gifts are not just present; it is a symbol of love.
Gifts need not to be expensive, but it must be done out of love and with much thought!
4. Physical touch
It is proven that babies that receive more hugs and cuddles grow up having more self esteem and confidence in their later live.
Within the confinement of marriage, sexual intimacy and physical touch play an important role of healing, trust and restoration. Outside of marriage, it is insincere, it is robbing and destroying. You can never find anything good coming out from a sexual intimacy coming out from outside the confinement of marriage because people violate the order of God.
It is meant to be beautiful but the devil turn into something ugly and to destroy healthy family.
5. Acts of service
It is whereby you like your spouse or partner to do the chores together with you. Clean the house, wash the car, do the dishes together, throw rubbish together and take care of the kids together….
One of them is definitely yours. You’ve got to know what is yours and at the same time you need to know your partner’s love language as well. It is no point where people fill in your love tank and your partner’s is not filled. You can’t be the only one happy while everyone is not.

the worst part of it..i qoute - "He said that to stop such migration Chinese parents should enrol their children into the local universities instead of sending them abroad. "
duh..how to enrol into local universities? enrol to study what? pembalakan? perhutanan? what good faculty can chinese get into?? there are qoutas everywhere in the local university. no matter how well a chinese will do in their STPM, they cannot get into medicine! so, what is this???
i despise this kind of special rights!!! there are so many smart students but they couldnt further their studies in the field they aspire to become simply because there is a 'special' qouta!
i am trying my best to be polite but how dare this minister say such a thing...as if he doesnt know the special qoutas that are being held in all the local universities. what did he expect parents to enrol their kids into? to study abt forest? how about environmental? would a chinese ever get into dentistry? medicine? pharmacy? engineering? a slim chance, i must say!
the country cannot blame chinese for moving away/migrating....look at how we are being treated!!

duh..how to enrol into local universities? enrol to study what? pembalakan? perhutanan? what good faculty can chinese get into?? there are qoutas everywhere in the local university. no matter how well a chinese will do in their STPM, they cannot get into medicine! so, what is this???
i despise this kind of special rights!!! there are so many smart students but they couldnt further their studies in the field they aspire to become simply because there is a 'special' qouta!
i am trying my best to be polite but how dare this minister say such a thing...as if he doesnt know the special qoutas that are being held in all the local universities. what did he expect parents to enrol their kids into? to study abt forest? how about environmental? would a chinese ever get into dentistry? medicine? pharmacy? engineering? a slim chance, i must say!
the country cannot blame chinese for moving away/migrating....look at how we are being treated!!

and it's from....xuan! what a surprise!!! i didnt expect any mail even though everyday i will go and check near the guard room to see if i have any mails. i would envy those that got a letter or card or parcel.

are u eating too much?
lately, i've been consuming lots of instant noodles - so, i went to have a look at the history of it and guess what i found ??
The idea of instant noodles can be traced back to the Chinese Qing Dynasty, when yimian noodles were deep-fried which allowed them to be stored for long periods and then prepared quickly. Similarly, "Chicken Thread Noodles" (deep-fried thin noodles served with boiling water and optionally an egg) were available in China and Taiwan since the Qing Dynasty.
Modern instant noodles were invented in Japan by Taiwanese Japanese businessman Momofuku Andō (安藤百福), the founder of Nissin Foods, one of the biggest manufacturers of instant noodles today. His noodles were boiled with flavoring, deep-fried with palm oil to remove moisture, and dried into a noodle cake. Other preservation methods have been tried, including preservation with salt and smoke, but Andō concluded that palm oil is the most efficient.

what food are all about
A day out with close friends to makan – Italian restaurant. No special occasion, just wanted to spend money! Haha….one had to borrow money from another friend while another withdraw money! Well, it’s worth it for some quality time with friends!
Pasta Rebera, if I am not mistaken. Not very satisfying, I’ll give a 2 star out of 5. it’s fettuccine with pork and beef and tomato souce…something like tat.
manage to finish it somehow!
Another pasta, this is one of my favourite. It’s fettuccine too with cheese. Yummy! Also with chicken and mushroom.

And the bill! hehe...can you see how much that note is? haha!
When you get to eat, it’s great. I must mention that not all foo chow know how to appreciate food. As in, enjoy food. After about 5 years being here, I can conclude that most, if not all, does not know how to enjoy quality food. For me, everything is nice as long as u can fill your stomach. But in these 5 years, I’ve learnt that food is merely substance that feels your stomach. It’s something that fulfills the satisfaction of your sense of taste and sight.
Not only have I learnt to cook with quality since the first day I arrived, but I’ve learnt to choose what to eat. No, no, I’m not picky. Most of the time, anything can fill my stomach it’s ok d. But I’ve tasted really nice and delicious food that gives me a deeper understanding of food.
I’ve learnt about presentation of food which plays an important role in giving you a start in before eating! I’ve learnt not to cook everything into one colour but have different colour in the veggies that I cook…green, white, orange..etc. it’s makes a whole different.
I’ve got lots more to learn about food.
I remember one of my first dishes was fried rice and I improvised, added tomato sauce to become tomato fried rice! And then, there were fried eggs. I remember the first time I learnt about pasta – spaghetti was after my Youth Camp from church and once I reach home, I started to cook spaghetti everyday for about 2 weeks…well, not everyday but tat was what I cooked only. I made it for my daddy and mommy, I don’t know what they think. honestly i am very happy that i can cook for my parents! For once, I thought I might have a special skill in cooking! I am glad to say I’m a quick learner! Haha! Even here, once I learnt something, I would keep on making the same dish until I get bored!

What is cheap here?
Since I came back in September, everything is increasing in price. From oil to toilet papers, shampoo, fruits, rice…cut the long story short, everything has became more expensive except for the buses..and internet. Speaking which has been expensive from the first day in kursk.
Russian currency is roubles. Rm 1 rouble can get 7 roubles. It used to be 8 roubles when I first arrive in 2003. we used to change USD to roubles which was around 30roubles for 1 usd. But now, it has dropped til 23.8roubles for 1usd. Pretty drastic, eh?
But inflation wasn’t that obvious until after this summer. After 1 month arriving, the oil (cooking oil) shoot up double the price (from 25roubles -> 50 roubles +) since then, nothing is cheap….everything is either more expensive or if the price is not increased, the size has shrink.
Russia general election was last Sunday and Putin’s party won. One of their proposal was to pull down usd til 15roubles for 1usd by next summer! Good thing I’ll only be here for another 55 more weeks, or less, becoz of 9 weeks in msia! Kekekeke….

For the past few years, I bought some vodka for my cousin and last summer, I bought Martini Rosso.
My girl friend told me that it wasn’t sold in msia, (not very sure myself) so I decided to buy it. But, til now, I don’t think anyone has started to drink it. Nevermind. I shall learn how to drink it…as in the proper way of drinking martini.

truth vs lie
A lie is a type of deception in the form of an untruthful statement with the intention to deceive.
The truth hurts! A lie hurts even more! The truth I am talking about is truth of daily life….truth among friends, family and even strangers.
How much can you reveal about a particular thing?
How much truth can there be in an honest conversation?
How much truth can u demand from a relationship?
Is there a limit to where the line is drawn and when the other person crosses it, he’s no less than a liar? Who draws the line and where does the line stand?
Can hidden truth bring more trust in a relationship? Nothing can be hidden long enough before it is discovered. Like a Chinese saying, a paper cannot cover the fire.
How about an innocent white lie? How much hurt can that bring? What damage can it ever cause in a relationship? Friendship? Family?
Will a relationship ever be restored about a lie?
From my point of view, a person that says a white lie will eventually move on to bigger white lie and in the end, he’ll just tell a lie as if there is nothing to it.
To me, a white lie can hurt but to an extend only. A strong bond of relationship cannot be broken by just an innocent white lie or a hidden truth. But when it is found out to be true, it will cause a small crack in that bond. Anyone will know a small crack will lead to crumbling of the whole foundation or rather the relationship itself. In another words, betrayal of trust.
How far will you go to withholding the truth in a relationship? Friendship?

One of the hardest things to do is to get tickets for a sport even like the NBA All Star Game. It is sold out even before I can ever get my hands on them. a new week
starting a new cycle today - traumatology and orthopedics!
something really new to me and i suppose it's going to be important too! i didnt hear any good thing about the department...and it was all that the teachers were lazy, and all the time smoking? well, i've got to experience it for myself. maybe things arent so bad after all if you look at it in a different angle!
so in this cycle, we're going to study about the traumas to the bones and how to fix them!
i've heard alot of times that orthopedics arent for girls because u'll need extra strength! kekeke....right til this moment...no special interest towards this but i believe it's very important to at least know the basic - eh?
