ECG

I think I have received formal teaching on this subject for possibly the 20th time in my entire medical school, yet I am still really noob when it comes to being able to read one.

When I was in Year 2, I had an ECG in the stand-alone OSCE station. I told myself that whatever it was, my default answer was going to be "inferior wall MI". I actually really wrote that without even looking at the ECG because I just could not comprehend.

It was impossible.

Today, I am 3 weeks away from the biggest exam in my undergrad education and I am attending my nth ECG tutorial; I think I finally understood ECG. I don't know if it is the clinician giving the tutorial or it was just me finally able to 'click' with the complexity of this unique tool of interpreting the heart.

And ask me ask me.. ask me how to reproduce systolic murmur using my thumb! HAHAHHAA!!

wedding gift

What do you think if I get a gold chain for Amy's wedding? Gold in the market now is expensive but it is the one thing that is going strong in the market. And it is a wonderful and precious gift that can be preserved throughout generations. But the question is..is it appropriate? I dont want to get her something that is meaningless. But I gave her a wedding bible not long ago..and I think that is a good gift. But her wedding ceremony is coming up...so, got to think of something special and meaningful! And also, not forgetting Steph's wedding too! Ideas please, people!! ^^

Planks

Last week, during my 'killer' abs workout at the gym post spinning class, there was a part where we had to do planks - with both arms and each side planks. I found it not as painful as the other abs workouts.

Then I wondered.. is it because I used to do it quite a lot in the (recent) past? It is a tip given by a very slender and slim corporate woman whose hobby was consuming beer. You would think she would have a beer belly - but she is so slim she made me looked like an elephant beside her.

I used to do it quite a bit. And then I stopped.

Maybe I should start doing them again...

A new skin

I saw this and a thought fleeted through my mind - isn't that a great idea to cover up the bruises my Kindle sustained?

I just thought the rustic look is a bonus - it looks quite vintage. It is a union jack, mind you - what a good commemoration of the three best years of my life! Teeheee!

But is pricey; and I am a realistic person. I think I will give this a pass. I might as well get comfortable with its own skin and not try to hide any flaws.

Isn't life like that? We tend to hide beneath those lies.. and they obscure our weaknesses. We may get impinged and hindered from it - but hey, we need to learn to be contented with who we are - who we truly are.

Now that our house in kch is undergoing renovation..it means that soooner or later we will be moving there....and firstly buying a new or used car would be helpful for us to move around the town. But having a used car, there are many things to maintain in the car like a good feul pump, tyres and even the windshields need to be up and going! I was just told that BBK electric fuel pump kit is the mew thing in town and is great for high performance in tank fuel pumps. But I shall leave all these things to my dad!

On the other hand, if we are getting a brand new car....more of a headache as in which car to buy? I've started working for more than 2 years and I've always wanted my own car but I was told not to get one because we have enough..and now Xuan is coming back and everyone is excited to get a new car for her! Eerr..isnt this a bit unfair!??

 But life is never fair.
